FT. LARAMIE, WYOMING...........Funeral services for KATHRYN FREEMYER 86, will be held at 1pm Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Ft. Laramie Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jane Busey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Laramie Cemetery. Kathryn died in Harvey, North Dakota on December 29, 2008. A memorial has been established to the Ft. Laramie Fire Department. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 7pm and the casket will be open briefly following the service at the church. Kathryn was born March 29, 1922 in Conway, Iowa the daughter of Lester and Anna Hunter. She met Elmer in the fifth grade, when she had to sit by him on the school bus. They were married July 14, 1941. They lived in several places in southwest Iowa, where Elmer was a farmer and Kathryn was busy with three children. In 1960 they moved to Loveland, Colorado. Kathryn worked as a nurse’s aide and later at the Lego toy factory. In 1985 they retired to Ft. Laramie, Wyoming where they made many good friends. During that time twelve great grandchildren were added to the family. In July of 2008 they moved to Harvey, North Dakota. Kathryn had seven grandchildren and always said her happiest times were when her grandchildren were around her. She made quilts, liked to embroider, and loved to travel. She was sweet and caring right through the last minute of her life. Marsha and Elven were so blessed to spend the last five months with Mom in their home. We all love you and will miss you dearly. Kathryn is survived by her husband Elmer of Harvey, North Dakota; two sons, Larry and Sandy Freemyer of Briggsdale, Colorado, and Marvin and Julie Freemyer of Reno, Nevada; daughter, Marsha and Elven Marshall of Harvey; her grandchildren, Randy, Sheralee, Melissa, Charles and Jake Freemyer, Jennifer Baker, and Nick Marshall; twelve great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Jean Smalley of Medford, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth; and an infant daughter Marilyn.
