Albert Kind

TORRINGTON, WY........ Funeral services for ALBERT KIND, 93, will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tom Kittleman officiating. The casket will be open briefly following the service. Fraternal Rites by the Torrington Elk?s Club (BPOE) and Military Honors will be conducted at the Valley View Cemetery following the service. Albert died at home on June 7, 2006 in Arizona. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his memory to the University of Wyoming. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Albert was born on February 1, 1913 in Evanston, Illinois the son of William and Elise (David) Kind. The family moved to Casper, Wyoming when Albert was a young child. He grew up and received his education in Casper, graduating from Natrona County High School with the class of 1931. He went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming in 1938 majoring in Commerce. Albert married Wyoming native Dorothy Campbell of Torrington in 1950 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the couple resided in Laramie, Wyoming until 1954 when Albert became a radar instructor at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. One of Al?s proudest moments was having a small part as a radar technician tracking the Apollo XI flight, The First Lunar Landing Mission, in July of 1969. He had previously learned about electronics while serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. The couple retired to El Paso, Texas in 1974 where they were active at the Wellington Chew Senior Center. His wife passed away in 1983 and Al resided in El Paso until 2003 when he moved to Peoria, Arizona to live with his daughter; however, Al's heart was always in Wyoming. He is survived by is two sons, John of El Paso, Texas, and Robert of Chandler, Arizona; a daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Bruce Benware of Peoria, Arizona; six grandchildren, and numerous doting nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents and his wife, Al was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Hardigan of Laramie, Wyoming and brothers, William C. Kind of Casper, Wyoming, and Henry Kind of Loveland, Colorado.
