TORRINGTON, WY..... Funeral services for DOROTHY I. PARSONS, 81, will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 30th, 2006 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with Reverend Marvin Temme officiating. Burial will follow in the LaGrange Cemetery. Dorothy died on September 22, 2006 at Porter Hospice in Denver, Colorado. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Friday from 1pm to 7pm. Memorials have been established to either Our Savior Lutheran Church or to the LaGrange Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com She was born on March 30, 1925 in Burns, Wyoming the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Krantz) Schliske. She attended elementary school at Bear Creek ; graduated high school at Burns and then went to work for Farmers State Bank. Dorothy married Clarence Pace. The couple had two daughters, Jeanne and Deanna, and then were later divorced. Dorothy then lived at Cheyenne, Wyoming and in the early 1960's she began work at the First National Bank. She also worked at the 2-Bar Bowling Alley in Cheyenne. She married Earl Parsons on April 17, 1982 on the ranch at Bear Creek and the couple lived on the ranch until November of 2005 when they moved into Torrington. Dorothy and Earl wintered in Arizona where she enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and gambling. She especially enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas and Dorothy loved playing Bridge and she was very competitive. She was an excellent cook and she loved gardening vegetables and flowers. Dorothy was a good seamstress and she also liked doing crafts. She was affectionately known as 'Auntie Dot'. Dorothy was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Torrington and had been a member of Trinity Lutheran in Cheyenne. She is survived by her husband Earl K. Parsons of Torrington; two daughters, Jeanne Helser of Torrington; and Deanna Phillips and her husband Mark of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandchildren, Cheri West, Brian Helser, Brooke Phillips, and Brittany Phillips; two great grandsons, Riley West and Trace Helser. Other survivors include a brother Arthur Jr. (Bud) Schliske of Mesa, Arizona; and special daughters/nieces, Elaine Halstead and her husband Ron of Douglas, Wyoming; Judy Kenney of Laguna Niguel, California; Bonnie Notman and her husband Jim of McAllen, Texas; and Patty Woolington and her husband Jim of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; nephew Larry Schliske and his wife Jan of Ft. Collins, Colorado and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Pace family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Minnie; one sister, Helen Parsons; and a sister-in-law, Doris Schliske.
