TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........Funeral services for HELEN HARRIET McCABE, 87, will be held at 2pm Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Helen went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2008 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming following a brief illness and surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to a children’s/youth ministry of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm and prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Helen was born at Tryon, Nebraska in July 1921 to Fred and Rosie (Hines) Bugher. She grew up and got her early education in rural schools in western Nebraska. In 1935, she moved with her family to Wyoming where she completed her high school education. On August 17, 1940 she was united in marriage to her husband Curtis McCabe in Gering, Nebraska. The couple lived in Torrington, Wyoming where Helen worked for the United Telephone Company as an operator-service assistant from 1949 to May 6, 1962. She then worked at the Torrington Nursing Home for eleven years and later was employed at the L. B. Murphy Clothing Store for eight years. She retired in 1985. The last three years she was a resident at Aspen Wind Retirement Assisted Living Community in Cheyenne, Wyoming where she moved to be closer to her family. Helen loved to work with young people and taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children’s Church for many years. She was a member of the River of Life Church. She loved to do crafts and spent many hours at craft shows in Wyoming and Nebraska. Helen is survived by her son, Michael and daughter-in-law Patricia McCabe of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter-in-law Myrna McCabe of Gering, Nebraska; grandson CJ McCabe and great grandson Austin of Chadron, Nebraska; granddaughter, Myrna Dean Olivarez and her husband Oscar of Kerrville, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Samson of Payette, Idaho and Ruth Lambert of Boise, Idaho; brother, Glenn Bugher of Paris, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Melvin McCabe; three brothers; and five sisters.
