HAWK SPRINGS, WY . . . . Funeral services for ISIS B. HUBBS, 96, will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron NussWarren officiating. The casket will be closed. Burial will follow services in the Valley View Cemetery. Isis passed away on October 26, 2010 at her ranch home north and east of Hawk Springs, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hawk Springs Community Center or to Prairie Haven Hospice at Two West 42nd Street, Suite 2300, Scottsbluff, NE 69361. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Isis was born on June 6, 1914 at the Hawk Springs family ranch, the daughter of William G and Emma C. (Marsh) Vance, pioneers of Goshen County. She grew up and received her education. She married Earl Hubbs on November 28, 1933 at Kimball, Nebraska when she was 19 years old. The couple lived near Hawk Springs for several years and then moved back home to the family ranch when her father passed away. Isis and Earl then ranched at the original home of her parents where they had their own two daughters, born in the ranch house with a chiropractor in attendance! Isis and Earl grew wheat, alfalfa and raised cattle, sheep, and pigs. Isis loved working outside in the fields and with the animals. She drove wheat trucks, plowed fields, and cut hay. She was asked, "Don’t you get tired?" and she would say, "I am never tired.". Isis life revolved around her family, her home, and her land. She was a very good cook, and her pies and apple dumplings were favorites. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family on the holidays. She was a giving and beautiful person both inside and out. Isis is survived by her daughter, Venita Hubbs Cochran of Hawk Springs; a son-in-law, Leonard Nighswonger of Loveland, Colorado; two granddaughters, Vonda (Mike) Davis of Loveland, CO; and Sonya (Neval) Gupta of Aurora, CO; and four great grandchildren, Lucas Davis and Lauren Davis both of Loveland; and Sara (Ryan) Fink, and Evan Smalling all of Aurora, CO. In addition to her parents, Isis was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Hubbs; and a daughter, Leah Hubbs Nighswonger.
