James "Jim" Roland Wamboldt

A celebration of life for JAMES “JIM” ROLAND WAMBOLDT, 87, will be held 10am Monday September 18, 2023 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kyle Huckins officiating. Burial of the ashes will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. A reception will follow burial at American Legion in Torrington. Jim passed away September 11, 2023 at Torrington Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family and cremation has taken place. Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. James was born May 2, 1936 to George and Mollie (Herman) Wamboldt in Mitchell, NE. James is survived by his wife, Jeanne Ann (Michael) Wamboldt of 64 years. Three children: James Milan (Lynn) Wamboldt, Torrington, WY, grandchildren Logan McCloud, Liz (Brian) Stoner, Aaron McCloud. Darla (Robert) Simpson, Michell, NE, grandchildren Tara (Josh) Miller, Sara (Daniel) Wintz, Mackenzie Howshar (fiancé’ Cory), Ryan Simpson, and Natalie Simpson. Dana (Brent) Baucom, Memphis, TX, grandchildren Dallas Tukker (Brittney) Hughes, Hanna Baucom, Katie (Jake) Stephens, Steel Hughes, Maggie (Nik) Baucom-Rivera, and Livie Jo Hughes. Also survived by Ruth Lungren, Worland, WY, Larry (Marty) Wamboldt, Cheyenne, WY, Les (Sharon) Wamboldt, Gering, NE; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. James was proceeded in death by both of his parents, siblings Willard Wamboldt, Marlyn Ruff and Verna Schaffer, nephews Jon Wamboldt, Max Ruff, Willard Wamboldt Jr. James was born and raised in Mitchell, NE until his family relocated to South Dakota. Years later they moved back to the Scottsbluff and Huntley area. James’ family farmed in Huntley, WY where he met the love of his life, Jeanne (Michael), who rode the school bus with his brothers, Larry, and Les. James took Jeanne on their first date to the Goshen County Fair in 1958 and they were married a year later in the United Presbyterian Church, Huntley, WY on May 3, 1959. James farmed in the Torrington/Huntley area raising beans, beets, corn, and potatoes. He began his cow calf operation at this time. James moved his family to Guernsey, WY, he was a meat cutter then for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1995 to Torrington. James proudly served the Wyoming National Guard for over 9 years. James’ proudest moment was earning his GED in 1982 from EWC. James and his sisters entertained family with their hymns and polkas playing strictly by ear. James loved and attended Dutch Hop and dances anytime he could.
