Julie Hovis Baldwin

TORRINGTON, WYO.... Memorial services for JULIE ANNE HOVIS BALDWIN, 48, will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the United Methodist Church with Reverend Ora Dailey officiating. Julie passed away on August 8, 2006 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place and private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that memorial contributions in Julie's memory be directed to either 'Pet Pals' or 'Waggin' Tails Animal Shelter'. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Julie was born on October 18, 1957 in Brush, Colorado the daughter of William 'Bill' and Elaine (Bergslein) Hovis, Jr. She was raised in Casper, Wyoming and received her education there; graduating from Natrona County High School in 1976. She married Gerald Baldwin of Van Tassel, Wyoming in 1977 and the couple enjoyed 29 wonderful years together; living and working on their ranch near Van Tassel northeast of Torrington, Wyoming. To the union, two daughters were born, and to date, three granddaughters, and Julie would have welcomed her fourth granddaughter due in September. Julie: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and good friend to many, was the apple of our eye and always the life energy of every family gathering. We celebrate her life even while being saddened by her sudden passing. She was a woman of faith in Christ, baptized into the United Methodist Church of Casper, and we, though we mourn her absence here on earth, are grateful that she is with He who comforts and loves eternally. Julie's passion was in being the best grandmother humanly possible, baking for her frequent family gatherings, and working on crafts that she gave generously to family and friends for every occasion and holiday. She was fond of making miniatures of every object known to man, and she was also a gifted quiller. She loved decorating for every holiday; especially Christmas time and her many different holiday crafts not only adorned her home, but the homes of her extended family and friends. Of course, living on the ranch, Julie loved her many pets. Her favorite time of year was spring and calving. She always referred to these new creatures as 'her babies', and she could recognize each new calf even from afar, and recite their lineage without batting an eye. Julie helped her husband Gerald manage all aspects of the ranching business and plied her business savvy to many other areas. We are proud of our Julie. Not only a good and giving human being in life, she has been a good and giving human being in death. As a volunteer organ donor, we are comforted to know that the essence of her being is living on, even today, and giving a new lease on life to several others who have received her organs for transplant, as well as making contributions to research and science. Julie's life force lives on, and we are grateful for this wonderful thing. She is survived by her husband Gerald of Van Tassel, Wyoming; two daughters and their husbands, Jonetta and Phil Matthews and Jillian and Kelly Waymire all of Torrington, Wyoming; her parents, Bill and Elaine Hovis of Casper, Wyoming; two brothers and their wives, John and Terri Hovis of Gilbert, Arizona, and Jim and Kriss Hovis of LaGrange, Wyoming; three granddaughters, Alexandria, Alyssa, and Annaliese Matthews all of Torrington; and two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, and one niece, Jesica Hovis.
