Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for KATHY KATH, 58, at 2 pm, Friday, February 10, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Father Kevin Koch officiating. Cremation will follow services and burial will be at a later date. A Rosary/Wake service will be held Thursday at 7 pm at the church with Father Michael Carr. The casket will be open at the Rosary but closed at the Mass. Kathy died February 5, 2012 at her home in Torrington. Memorials may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church. Kathy was born October 1, 1953 in Torrington, the daughter of Rosendo S. and Olivia (Hernandez) Barajas. She attended school in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 1972. She was the oldest of eight children. In 1972, she married Leo Romero. The couple had two children and later divorced. Kathy was with Greg Kath since 1998; they married in 2002. She was a cook at St. Joseph Children’s Home for 15 years and before that she was a CNA for a few years. She also worked with Greg at the radio station for the last 10 years. Kathy was a wonderful cook. She never showed up empty handed; she liked to bring surprises and food. She liked to knit and decorate her house…she was very artistic. Kathy was very family oriented. Many of her family and friends considered her their second mother. She loved her grandchildren; especially taking them on drives. It was very important for Kathy to have lunch with her friends. And when the sisters got together they always met at the prayer circle at the Catholic Church. She also took special care of Mable and Manuel Romero for several years. Her kindness touched a lot of people. Survivors include her husband Greg Kath; children Claudia (Guillermo) Galvan of Torrington, Jose (Erika) Romero of Oak Harbor, Washington; sister Laura Patterson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Rose Stevens of Toledo, Ohio; brother David (Tammie) Barajas of Kennewick, Washington; sister Cecilia (Rick) Elizondo of Cheyenne; sister Elizabeth Moore of Torrington; sister Rebecca (Robert) Ramirez of Torrington; sister Rachel (Scott) Sandusky of Torrington; brother-in-law Grant (Stephanie) Kath of Torrington; mother-in-law Delores Kath of Sidney, Nebraska; cousins, Margaret and DJ Martinez of Torrington, Rita and Pete Brown of Scottsbluff and Gena and Ralph Avila of Torrington; seven grandchildren and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Garrett Kath; and brother-in-law Ronald Stevens.
