Larry Brown

Funeral services for LARRY GENE BROWN, 74, will be held at 1pm Monday, February 13, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Cederholm officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to either the First Baptist Church or Waggin Tails Animal Shelter. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 10am to noon and the casket will be open at the church prior to the service. Larry was born August 2, 1942 in Torrington, Wyoming the son of Earl and Britta (Snider) Brown. He graduated from Torrington High School where he participated in track and won many ribbons and awards. Larry enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Norton Sound AVM-1. He was an excellent seaman and toured the world. He worked as a derrick skinner in the oil fields in Wyoming. He loved to be outdoors, enjoyed fishing, big game hunting and camping. Larry raised, showed and sold Black Angus calves. He was always game to play cards and he collected figurines and model cars. He loved celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas. He enjoyed sight-seeing, traveling, collecting and dining at “The Bullet” in Morrill, Nebraska. He loved animals and animals loved him. His country yard was a safe haven for animals. His Border Collie (Blaze) and his cat (Kitty Meow) were great companions. Larry was a caring and loving brother. His life was filled with deep love for his family. He will always be remembered for his generous spirit, quick humor and his kindness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Moose Lodge #664. Eliza (Chandler) Snider, his grandmother, was a founding member of the First Baptist Church in Torrington when it was started in a train boxcar. His ancestors came from England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany. His “Rawley Rich” family owned plantations in Green County, Pennsylvania. Survivors include his sisters, Sharon (John) Rife of Murphy, Texas, Alice Brown of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Dorothy Eisenach of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Isabell Hill of Lingle, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ed, Leroy, and David Brown; and sisters Betty Nickelson Trupp, Donna Cooper Michael and Lois Caldwell.
