Lela Harrison

TORRINGTON, WYO.... Funeral services for LELA R. HARRISON, 85, will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the United Methodist Church with Reverend Ora Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, Nebraska. Lela died on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the Heritage Estates in Gering, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday from 10am to 7pm; Thursday from 9am to 11am; and the casket will be open at the church service. Memorials have been established to either the United Methodist Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com She was born on March 4, 1921 in Overton, Nebraska the daughter of Samuel and Myrtle (Fillingham) Decker. She grew up and received her education; graduating from Lyman High School in 1938. She married Burris Daily on September 17, 1938 in Morrill, Nebraska. The couple had three children, Peggy, Charles 'Chuck', and Carol. The family moved to Torrington, Wyoming in 1948 and the couple divorced in 1949. Lela's son Chuck passed away in November of 1960. She married Ben Harrison on October 5, 1974 in Reno, Nevada and the couple moved to California in 1975. Ben died in March of 1996 and Lela moved back to Torrington in June of 1996 to be near her daughters and their families. She moved to Emerald Court in February of 2001 and then to Heritage Estates Health Care in February of 2006 where she was living at the time of her death. Lela worked for both the Goshen County Clerk and Treasurer's offices for 15 years. She enjoyed reading and watching baseball games and she liked sewing and cooking. Lela was an active member of the Woodland United Methodist Church in California for 21 years where she served as chairman of the church circle for over 10 years. She played both piano and organ by ear and belonged to an organ club while living in Woodland. While living in California, Lela researched and completed a family genealogy history for both the Fillingham and Decker families. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Torrington. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Jackson and her husband Virgil of Chugwater, WY; and Carol Lenhart and her husband Sherman of Gering, NE; four grandchildren, Jerrene Braisted of Wheatland, WY; Derek (Michele) Jackson of Torrington, WY; Ryan Lenhart of Gering, NE; and Trisha (Chris) Greenwalt of Allen, TX; and ten great grandchildren, Tyler, Maci, and Kolby Braisted; Ali and Josi Jackson; Riley and Abby Lenhart; and Ganon, Gage, and Hayden Greenwalt. In addition to her parents, her husband, and her son; Lela was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Shaw, and two brothers, Phil Decker and Bob Decker.
