TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........Funeral services for LENA LUCILE BARKMAN 16,will be held at 1pm Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Eastgate Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”–Psalm 116:15. Lena went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, due to a four-wheeler accident. Memorials may be made to the Deaf and Blind Ministry through Brad and Hannah Ketterling. Visitation will be Friday from 3pm to 7pm and briefly prior to the service at the church. Lena was born November 19, 1992 in Torrington, Wyoming the daughter of Alfred Elroy and Wilma Fern (Connell/Smith) Barkman and lived her entire life on a farm/ranch eight miles south of Lingle, Wyoming. She was home schooled for eleven years. She loved horses and her dream was to be a Grand Prix Jumper. She also wanted to train cutting and reining horses. She was actively involved at Pioneer Baptist Church north of Wheatland, Wyoming. Lena was an avid reader and enjoyed drawing, especially pictures of horses. Recently she thought about going to law or veterinary school. Lena is survived by her maternal grandmother, Lena Fay (Paxton) Connell; parents Al and Wilma Barkman; five brothers Darren Todd and Vicky (Robbins) Barkman, Wes LaVern and Jaime (Bennett) Smith, Will Lane and Jennifer (Hall) Smith, Douglas Patrick Barkman, and Timothy David Barkman; three sisters, Teresa Renae (Barkman) and Lamarr Mainor Sr., Lynn LaVon (Smith) and Brian Bruin, and Donna Jean (Smith) and James Hedstrom; brother-in-law, Derek Burton Sr.; seven nephews; thirteen nieces; special sister-friends, Cheyenne Miller, Joy Judd, Becky Warren, and Martha Yanson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Daniel Errold Connell Sr.; paternal grandparents Alfred Hilmer and Erma Lucile (Smith) Barkman; two brothers, David Anthony Barkman, and Nathan Shane Barkman; and one sister Colleen Sue (Barkman) Burton.
