Leon Eisenbarth

TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........Funeral services for LEON EISENBARTH 85, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday April 3rd at the First Congregational Church in Torrington with Rev. Matthew Gordon and Pastor Charles Hyatt officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. Leon went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family on March 30, 2009. There will be a viewing time at the Colyer Funeral Home on Thursday April 2, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. and prior to service at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church and to the Torrington Tabernacle Baptist Church. Leon was born in Keota, Colorado on January 26, 1924 to Carl and Lydia (Deutscher) Eisenbarth. In 1927 the family moved to Yoder, Wyoming. He received his education at Yoder and helped farm the family farm until his marriage to Lillian Alma Herdt on Feb.21, 1943. He rented a farm near Yoder until 1965 when he purchased a farm south of Lingle. He remained living on that farm until March of 2008 when he moved to the Goshen Care Center. Leon loved to farm and was in the top 10 sugar beet producers for Holly Sugar twice. He also enjoyed feeding cattle. Bingo was his favorite pastime and he made many lasting friendships through the years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Torrington, where he served as trustee, deacon, and in Men’s League. He also enjoyed attending the Torrington Baptist Tabernacle Church with friends while living at the Care Center. He was instrumental in forming the Angell Draw Drainage District and was a board member for 30 years. Leon is survived by his son Dennis and Becky Eisenbarth of Torrington, his daughter Brenda and Dean Anderson of Albin, grandchildren Trisha Eisenbarth of Lingle, Travis Eisenbarth of Torrington, Larissa and Rob Crust of Greeley, CO., Steven Anderson of Rawlins, Brian Anderson of Rawlins, one great-granddaughter, Kaurah Crust and his faithful dog “Sonny”. He is also survived by sisters Violet and Kenton Collins of Riverton, Jeanette and Lawrence Schlager of Aurora, CO, and brothers Carl Jr. and Gladys of Yoder and Gerald of Torrington. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma in 1991, his parents, brothers Arthur, Paul and Herb, and sisters Irma, Lillian, Esther, Louise and Christina. Leon’s smile and gentle heart will be sadly missed, but we rejoice that he is in his heavenly home.
