Mary E. Green

Funeral services for MARY ELLEN GREEN, 98, will be held at 10am Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Lighthouse Ministries with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Burial will take place at 2pm at the LaGrange Cemetery. Mary died at Goshen Healthcare Community on January 20, 2022. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary or Lighthouse Ministries. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm and the casket will be closed at the service. Mary was born April 30, 1923 in Friend, Nebraska, the daughter of Clyde and Mabel (Wylde-Browne) Stewart. When Mary was six weeks old she returned to Goshen County. She grew up in the Bear Creek and Fox Creek areas with her father and two sisters. When she was old enough, she transferred to Torrington where she graduated from high school in 1940. Following high school she took one year of “Normal Training” in Burns, Wyoming. Mary went on to teach for a year in Lone Tree Canyon and two years in Diamond Flats. She then moved to LaGrange where she taught for three years. She married Floyd E. Green on September 15, 1946, in Denver, Colorado. They resided in LaGrange until 1952 when they built a house on the Green Ranch seven miles east of LaGrange. Mary was a very devoted wife and mother, and was always there for anybody that needed a helping hand. Along with helping on the ranch she also put in eighteen years as a bus driver. She worked for the McGill Drug Store in LaGrange and Brown’s Grocery Store. Mary was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post John A. McGill for seventy-eight years. She was also a member of the LaGrange Homemakers Club, Extension Club and Lighthouse Ministries. Mary is survived by her daughter Sally (Casey) Hunter of Yoder, Wyoming; her son Clyde (Melody) Green of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a sister Kay Horne of Aurora, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; son Jim; daughter Gerry; and two great grandchildren.
