Mildred McColl

TORRINGTON, WYOMING...............Graveside services for MILDRED IDA MCCOLL, 94, will be held at 1:00p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Valley View Cemetery with Bishop Matt Bowen officiating. Mildred died at Life Care Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming on May 14, 2007. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Mildred was born July 15, 1912 on the plains in a sod house, known in those days as a soddy, in Graham County, Kansas the daughter of Jourdan and Myrtle (Moye) Pierce. Her father had built it and her mother planted moss roses on the roof. She grew up and went to school in WaKenney, Kansas, graduating from the WaKenney High School. She married Laurence McColl On July 3, 1932. Three boys and a girl were born to them while they lived in Kansas. They then moved their family to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1940 where a second daughter was born. They built a house in Orchard Valley and from there moved in to Cheyenne. They moved from there to Wheatland, Wyoming and later back to Cheyenne and then to Torrington where her husband died. She move back to Cheyenne and worked for the Wyoming Highway Department there until she retired. Mildred moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where her oldest living son resided. She remained there until her oldest daughter retired and she moved back to Cheyenne and lived with her daughter. She enter the Life Care Center in 2004. Mildred was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, ceramics, and other crafts as well as working in her yard when she was able. Mildred is survived by two sons, Clifford McColl and his wife Delores of Salt Lake City, and Gary McColl and his wife Peggy of Cody, Wyoming; two daughters, Delane Bee of Cheyenne, and Karen Kroeger of Casper, Wyoming; two sisters, Myrtle McColl and her husband Calvin and Wilma Williamson and her husband Norman; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; two granddaughters; one brother; three sisters
