Patsy Shimic

Patsy Lee Shimic, 70, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Regional West Community Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Beth Wilson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Patsy was born July 4, 1941, in Hawk Springs, Wyoming the daughter of Elvan and Doris (Logan) Shimic. She grew up and attended school in Hawk Springs. She got married in the 1960’s and later divorced. Patsy lived in California for some time and then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in the 1970’s. She was a bookkeeper for Fleshlie Oil Company as well as a truck driver. Later, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as a bookkeeper for Big O Tire Company. She then moved to Torrington in the late 1980’s. She retired due to osteoporosis. Pasty had breast cancer in the 1970’s and overcame that only to contract lung cancer in 2005. She was a fighter, she fought the disease until the very end. Patsy had a loving and giving heart. She was also a straight shooter. She saw it and said it like it was. Patsy didn’t sugar coat anything. She loved to travel, listening to music, do puzzle games and collect jade jewelry. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Jack Jenkins of Denver and Petey Paul Lee Jenkins of Torrington; her mother Doris Logan of Torrington; her brother Jerry Shimic of Hawk Springs; her sister Viola Barley of San Diego, California; her half-sister Penny Oliver of Ft. Laramie, Wyoming; her ex-husband Jack Donavan Jenkins of Hawk Springs; two nephews, Mark Shimic of Yoder and Doug Shimic of Buffalo, Wyoming; two nieces, Chrissie Christoferson and Stacie Dalton of Spokane, Washington; her grandson Robbie Jenkins of Missoula, Montana; her granddaughter LaDiesa Jenkins of Cody, Wyoming and her great grandson Mason Jenkins of Cody, Wyoming. She is preceded in death by her father; her ex-husband Moe Moses and her brother Jim Shimic.
