Richard Francis Gunderson

RICHARD FRANCIS GUNDERSON, 94, peacefully joined his beloved wife Blanche May 8, 2026, just 16 days after she went through the golden gates; death could not keep them apart. In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place and no public services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the Donor’s choice in Richard’s name. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com Richard was born August 7, 1931, in Dix, NE to Olaf and Caroline (Kronberg) Gunderson. He grew up in Dix, NE where he received his education, graduating in 1949. Right out of high school he was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher operator and worked there until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He served his country for two years from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean War. After being discharged from the army he moved to Hanna, Wyoming and it was there he met the love of his life, Blanche McKee. They were married November 5, 1955, in Rawlins, Wyoming. To this union four children were born: Gary, Sharon, Dick and Kyle. The family moved to Yoder, Wyoming in 1959 where he worked as an Agent for the Union Pacific Railroad. Later he was promoted to the Mobile Agent, he was the last agent in Wyoming until 1992 when the position was cut. Richard was a very active man, he loved to bowl, golf, play horseshoes and hunt. He was very active in his children's activities as they were growing up, and this continued with his grandchildren. A family man to say the least, he would have done anything for his family and those that he loved. Very active in his community, Richard will be missed by the gentlemen he had coffee with and welcomed into Heaven by those who went before him. His love and generosity will live on through many generations to come. He is survived by his children Sharon (Mark) Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas, Dick Gunderson of Torrington, Kyle (Amy) Gunderson of Torrington, as well as Deb (Brad) Prickett of Torrington whom he considered a daughter; grandchildren, Dakota Stevens, Ciara (Shane) Ulfig, Alyssa (Loran) Morrison, Jenny Gunderson, Kylee (Noah) Haggerty, Keeli (Chase) Rasmussen and Kaeli Gunderson; great-grandchildren, Willa Ulfig, Alieyah and Asher Morrison, Kizzy and Sawyer Haggerty, DJ and Cy Rasmussen, brother Carol E. Gunderson of Washington, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche, parents Olaf and Caroline Gunderson, son Gary Gunderson, two brothers and two sisters.
