TORRINGTON, WY...... Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Guernsey, Wyoming resident, RUTH M. GORMAN, 88, at10:00am on Monday, October 2, 2006 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Guernsey with The Rev. Robert Cousineau, S.J., and The Rev. Kevin Koch co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Rest Cemetery in Guernsey. A Wake/Rosary service will be held at the church on Sunday evening, October 1st at 7:00pm. Ruth died on September 27, 2006 at the Heritage Estates in Gering, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday from noon to 4pm at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington and the casket will be open at the Rosary. Memorials may be directed to either St. Anthony's Building Fund or to the Tri County Community Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Ruth was born on April 12, 1918 in Newton, Illinois the daughter of Raymond and Ada (Thomas) Brooks. The family moved to a homestead near Veteran, Wyoming where Ruth received her education; graduating from Veteran High School. She went on to graduate from the University of Illinois at Normal, Illinois and then she taught for one year. She then married the love of her life, Glen Gorman on August 5, 1943 at St. Patrick Catholic Cathedral in San Francisco, California. The couple lived there for a year prior to Glen's discharge from the army. Ruth and Glen then moved to Guernsey, Wyoming. Ruth enjoyed being out doors, doing lawn work, and gardening. She loved boating and she and Glen were especially fond of spending time at their cabin at Guernsey Lake with their family all around them. The couple also enjoyed following the activities of their many grandchildren throughout their school years and beyond. Ruth was a member of both St. Anthony Catholic Church at Guernsey and St. Rose Catholic Church at Torrington. She was a member of the St. Anthony's CCW and the VFW Auxiliary in Guernsey. She is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, Glenda and Stanley Wood of Plymouth, Massachusetts; Barbara and Harry Alderman of Golden, Colorado; Mary Ann and Jack Davidson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Peg and Tom Stoneking of Torrington, Wyoming; two sons and their wives, Bill and Katherine Gorman of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Mark and Christy Gorman of Lakewood, Colorado; two daughters-in-law, Janet Gorman of Olathe, Kansas, and Cathy Gorman of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three brothers and their wives, Bob and Anita Brooks, and Reese and Janet Brooks all of Newton, Illinois, and Ralph and Roseann Brooks of Tuscola, Illinois; one sister Kay White of Nashville, Tennessee; 25 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Owen Brooks, her husband Glen, and two sons, Jim and Tom.
