Samuel "Bob" Robert Huckfeldt

Samuel Robert (Bob) Huckfeldt was born on July 21, 1939, in Torrington, Wyoming, the child of Samuel & Georgina (Booth) Huckfeldt. He was baptized and given new life in Christ on September 10,1939. He was confirmed by the Rev. Wm. H. Borneman at the English Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Torrington, WY on June 6, 1954. He was given 2 Corinthians 5;15 as his confirmation memory verse, where God reminded him that “Christ died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.” Bob was united in holy marriage to Dorothy C. Kuntz on November 3, 1957. God blessed their union with five children: Roger, Steve, Brian of Torrington, WY, Art and wife Cherie in Cheyenne, WY, Linda and husband Ron Caylor in Gillette WY. God took Bob from this Valley of sorrow to Himself in Heaven on Sunday October 6, 2024, having enjoyed God’s blessings in this life for 85 years. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, and brother Fritz. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, half-brother Sam, and by many other relatives and friends. The Lord gives and the lord takes away; Blessed be the name of the Lord. I heard a voice “blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. “Blessed indeed” says the Spirit, “That they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” Rev. 14:13 Bob was raised on the family farm near Veteran WY. He enjoyed time with riding his favorite paint horse “Buster” and playing with his favorite dog “Butch”. Bob played saxophone in the high school band and wore #20 & #22 on the Eagles basketball team. Bob graduated high school in Veteran WY and continued to work on the family farm leveling land in the area. He attended the University of Wyoming. After marring he was a Police Officer in Laramie 1960-1961 and Cheyenne 1962-1963. He then took a position with the Wyoming Highway Patrol stationed in Douglas 1963-1966, and then again in Gillette in 1971. He was the store manager for the Corral stores in Cody and Cheyenne, owned Highway Package Liquor in Torrington, worked with his family in Wheatland at Huckfeldt & Sons Trucking, and was safety director for Dixon Bros in New Castle before moving back to Torrington where he worked as the secretary for Our Savior Lutheran Church. He owned many beautiful cars, but his favorite was his 1957 Chevy. Throughout the years his recreation took him snowmobiling, boating and camping. Traveling was something he wanted to do more of. He drove a motorhome from California back to Wyoming. On other adventures he took his motorhome to New Mexico and Montana to attend family reunions. He often told his son Roger to take every opportunity to make memories with family and friends, he wished he had done that more. He took up riding motorcycles again in the past few years, spending time with family and friends. He spent every moment he could riding his Harley Trike which he named “Pegasus” with his wife, sons, and friends. He had been diagnosed with heart issues 3 years ago and also cancer. Most would never know he had those issues. Some say they fought cancer, Bob lived life through it all, even riding his motorcycle to Sturgis this past August. He left a legacy in his family and he will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, October 19, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington, Wyoming with Pastor Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Torrington in Bob's name.
