A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for VIRGINIA ROMERO, 80, at 11am Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery. Virginia died February 14, 2013 at Community Hospital. A Rosary/Wake will be recited at the church at 7pm Tuesday. A memorial has been established to National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3pm to 5pm at the funeral home and the casket will be open at the rosary. Virginia was born May 30, 1932 in Yoder, Wyoming the daughter of Maria Antonia Romero and Preciliano Martinez. She grew up in Torrington and received her education at the Colombia School. In December of 1948 she married her older brother’s friend, a neighbor Louie Romero. The couple had six children from that union. Louie passed away on May 22, 1977. She was a homemaker for ten years until she went to work at the local cheese factory and potato cellar. In 1969 she began working for Holly Sugar. She worked as a Packaging Line Operator for Holly Sugar until her retirement in 1999. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and special friends, Margaret Valencia and Dora Zamora. She always had coffee and dessert ready any time of the day. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, puzzles, embroidering, and helping her kids and grandkids with any tasks to "keep her busy." She was the care giver to all and never slowed down. Virginia touched many lives by opening her home to all family and friends for the holidays or when a place to stay was needed. She was everybody’s grandma. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Virginia is survived by her six children, daughters, Esther Castillo (James) of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Gloria Barrientos of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Becky Eisenbarth (Terry) of Torrington, Wyoming; sons Ronald Romero (Linda) of Denver, Colorado, Ruben Romero (Marie) and Daniel Romero of Torrington; a sister Helen Urvina of Yakima, Washington; a brother Lawrence Martinez (Phyllis) and brother-in-law Manuel Romero (Mabel) of Torrington; fourteen grandchildren; and thirty-one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Pat, Joe, and Johnny; two sisters, Carmen and Mary; and two great grandsons.
