FT. LARAMIE, WYOMING...........Funeral services for WILLIAM G. DOOLEY 76, will be held at 10am Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Ft. Laramie Community Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jane Busey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ft. Laramie Cemetery. Bill died March 1, 2011 at the Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Ft. Laramie Rescue Unit. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm. Bill was born August 11, 1934 in Casper, Wyoming the son of Fred and Lula (Caves) Dooley. He grew up in Casper and was educated in Casper schools. A cowboy at heart, William spent much of his younger years working on various ranches. He joined the Marine Corp in 1952, served time in Korea, Japan, and Guam and was honorably discharged in 1957. Shortly thereafter he married Merlene Potter. He worked many years with Peter Kiewitt and Son’s at the Guernsey Stone Company. He also worked for Asbell Brothers, Brasel and Sims Construction and Frost Construction. In later years he drove truck for Freeport Transportation, first in Reno, Nevada and the relocated to Pennsylvania, where he drove truck until his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, a good game of chess, western movies, and spending time with his family. He moved to Ft. Laramie, Wyoming in June of 2000. Bill is survived by four sons, Donald Schwartzkopf and his wife Zella and Fred Dooley and his wife LuAnn all of Sheridan, Wyoming, Greg Dooley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Frank Dooley of Reno, Nevada; four sisters, Betty Hurley, Clara Marshall, Jackie Samford, and Lula Vang all of Casper, Wyoming; a mother-in-law Marie Potter of Torrington, Wyoming; a brother-in-law and his wife Charles and Urma Potter of Ft. Laramie, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Merlene; and a step-daughter Carol Schwartzkopf.
