Abraham Lincoln Martinez

February 12, 1955 - June 12, 2021

Abraham Lincoln Martinez went home with the Lord on Saturday, June 12th 2021. Abe was born on February 12th 1955 in rural western Nebraska near Morrill to Isabelle Castillo Martinez. He was the middle of 6 children. Abe married Theresa Zamora in the 1970's and together they started a family. He worked in concrete most of his life and taught his sons the trade when they were older. Later in life he enjoyed working at the senior centers in Cheyenne and Casper as the cook. He uplifted all, especially those, who went to eat there every day. In his younger years, Abe took up boxing. After almost qualifying for the Olympics, Abe became a trainer. He taught the art and discipline of boxing to several young athletes all of whom, just as Abe had, excelled to the top as quickly as wild fire spreads. Abe's boxing career had helped him realize his ability to teach and train. Abe had always loved sports and was always willing to lend a hand. So, years later, after becoming a father, it was no surprise that he became involved in his sons' school sports. Going to all their games and coaching their baseball teams. In later life, still, as always, Abe didn't just live a life- he participated in it, and wasn't afraid to try new things. He loved the Wyoming Cowboys and enjoyed going to their games and never missed listening to them on the radio when he couldn't attend. Abe was a strong pool player as well, he joined and played in pool league's for several years as captain of his team. His greatest passion and love in life was life itself, he appreciated and loved his time spent with family and friends. He often took slow drives on backroads, enjoying the country side accompanied by his friends, sometimes his sons, and always his loyal dog and friend, Cassie. Abe was a pleasure to conversate with, a joy to know, and to know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Abe is survived by his sons, Sean (Lindsay) Martinez, Anthony (Eve Dennis) Martinez, and Erik (Nina Dubray) Martinez. His siblings, Paula (Joe) Pena, Lupe Martinez Price, Raymond Martinez, and Robert Martinez, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Castillo Martinez. A son, Abraham Lincoln Martinez JR., a brother, Jessie Martinez, and his wife, Theresa Zamora. Donations to help with funeral expenses can be directed to Colyer Funeral Home 2935 Main, PO Box 20, Torrington, WY. 82240.
