Allen A. Miller

November 2, 1929 - November 17, 2021

TORRINGTON, Wyoming --- Allen A. Miller, 92, passed away November 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. At Allen’s request, there will be no memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send their condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com . Cremation has taken place. Allen was born November 2, 1929, in Morrill, Nebraska the son of Henry and Olinda (Lind) Miller. He was the fifth of six children. The family moved to the Torrington area and farmed. Growing up they called him “Sunny”. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1947 then attended the University of Wyoming for two years when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Allen served for four years during the Korean War and was deployed to Africa and French Morocco. Upon his discharge he returned to the states and spent some time with his sister Wilma and her husband R.L. Collinson at his veterinary clinic in Los Altos, California and then went on to work at a dude ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming where urban easterner’s vacationed. When he returned home, he continued his agriculture and cow/calf operation. On June 20, 1958 Allen married Betty J. Schreiner and the young couple purchased their home in Torrington. In 1968, they purchased the family farm with cropland and rangeland. He leased the OW Ranch northwest of Lusk, Wyoming for 15 years. All the while, continuing his cow/calf operation of Black Angus. Allen developed the A-Bar-B Country Estates on the home place east of Torrington and became a realtor and sold real estate. After retirement from ranching Allen was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a federal rural carrier for 17 years. Allen had a wonderful sense of humor which he held onto all through his illness. Survivors include his wife Betty of 63 years and a sister Dorothy Metz of Billings, Montana. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brother Albert; sister Wilma, Erma and Irene; and three nephews.
