Aubrey Hyatt Mccann, 77, died at his home Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rick Cederholm officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and the casket will be open briefly following the service. Hyatt was born Oct. 11, 1936 in Loudon, Ark. the son of Annah and Pauline (Ashbrook) McCann. He grew up and received his education in Arkansas. After graduation from high school he moved to Washington D.C. where worked for the FBI. Hyatt enlisted in 1954 in the National Guard Armory in Washington D.C. and later transferred to the Army Reserve in 1957. Hyatt married Bethel Brown Sept. 5, 1958 in Washington D.C. They moved to Denver in 1961 when he was discharged from the military. He joined the Denver Police Department September 18, 1961 and retired as a detective Sept. 19, 1986 and later moved to Torrington, Wyo. Hyatt enjoyed hunting and fishing and later in life genealogy research. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #29 of Torrington, Wyoming. Hyatt is survived by his wife Bethel McCann of Torrington, Wyo.; and a sister Yvonne M. Beard of Longview, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Reba L. Dame, Alice J. Hinesley and Elizabeth A. Riggs; and brother, Lanny R. McCann.
