O. Christine Kaufman Torrington, Wyoming – O. Christine “Chris” Kaufman, 65, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington with Pastor Rick Cederholm officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Waggin’ Tails animal shelter in Torrington and the Humane Society in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Chris was born March 16, 1949 in Tucson, AZ the daughter of E. Darrel and Helen Smith. Her father was an officer in the Air Force and the family lived all over the world. Her love for Wyoming kept her coming back. She attended the University of Wyoming and after graduation lived in various towns in Wyoming. Chris had one son, Cody McKiney, who passed away 10 years ago. Chris met and married Larry Kaufman in Torrington. The couple got married May 20, 1995. Chris loved Larry’s two sons, Jasen and Jory, as her own. She was a great force of nature and a woman who was always worried about and taking care of others. Her compassion will be missed. Chris was a “mom” to a lot of people. She enjoyed reading, camping, gardening, animals, and taking care of special friends in the community. Survivors include her parents Helen and E. Darrel Smith; her husband Larry Kaufman; sons, Jasen (Misty) Kaufman and Jory (Jennifer) Kaufman; sister Lynne (Frank) Blair; brother John (Jana) Smith; 6 grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her son Cody McKiney.
