Dolores earned her teaching certificate while attending high school, continued classes at University of Wyoming, and completed her BA at Mankato University in 1975. She migrated to Torrington, WY, as a single woman to teach and there married Martin Schaneman in 1950. She continued to teach off and on in Henry, NE, as she raised their children Kathy, Gary, and Bryan. Her husband Martin died in 1971, aa well as her closest sister Marion. She enjoyed entertaining, and kept a well appointed and comfortable home welcome to all family. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends around the United States from Washington DC to Los Angeles and took several trips to travel in Europe. She found camping too similar to growing up on the farm and preferred to stay in motels. She kept well organized and eye opening photo albums of her life
