Donald Johnson

May 12, 1930 - January 21, 2006

TORRINGTON, WYO..... Memorial services for DONALD A. JOHNSON, 75, will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Elder Henderson officiating. Don died on January 21, 2006 at his home in Torrington with his family by his side and at his request cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that memorial contributions be directed to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home. He was born on May 12, 1930 in Douglas, Wyoming the son of Arthur and Francis (George) Johnson. He grew up and received his education; graduating from Douglas High School in 1949. He then joined the US Navy and served for four years; which included his time in the Korean War. In 1956, Don went into the dairy business with his Aunt Bert and Uncle Dick Lyon and Everett Shane. He continued on his own in the dairy business until 1985. Don married Jeanette Munroe on December 2, 1975 in Las Vegas. He was a member of the Mountain Empire Dairymans, the American Legion Post #5, and the American Bowling Association. Don also was a member of the Goshen County Riding & Roping Club, the International Feedlot Roping Association, the Niobrara Roping Club, and the United States Team Roping Cowboys Association. In his roping career, Don won 8 saddles and many belt buckles. In addition to roping, Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Don cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Torrington; five daughters, Sherri Johnson-McClain and her companion, Jay Wozny of Denver, Colorado; Shelli Johnson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Jerri Pat Weimer and her husband Mike of Morrill, Nebraska; Lori Derr and her husband Rod of Lyman, Nebraska; and Jackie Miller and her husband James of Torrington, Wyoming; a son Mark Etzel and his fiancÚ, Lori of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; five granddaughters, Tamra McClain of Columbus, Ohio, Brandi (Harley) Schleve of Torrington, Wyoming, Becky (Rod) Randall of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Ashley Miller of Torrington, Wyoming, and Erika Derr of Lyman, Nebraska; three grandsons, Chase Jepson of Torrington, Wyoming, Justin Miller of Torrington, Wyoming, and Wil Hackleman of Lyman, Nebraska; four great grandchildren, Raina, Holden, Tierney, and Cooper Schleve all of Torrington, Wyoming; three sisters, Marie (Farrell) Maw of Greeley, Colorado, Carol (Dean) Castle of Casper, Wyoming, and Barbara Dorf of Casper, Wyoming; a brother, Jim (Caroline) Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his mother-in-law, Bea Munroe of Torrington, Wyoming; two brothers-in-law Duane (Rosanne)Munroe of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Dwight (Barbara) Munroe of Yoder, Wyoming, a sister-in-law, Judy Hood of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather Bill Moreley.
