Memorial services for DONALD E. MITCHELL, 74, will be held at 2pm Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Lingle Community Presbyterian Church with Reverend Vickie Kintzel officiating. Don died March 28, 2015 at Heritage Estates in Gering, Nebraska and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter or the Donor’s choice. Don was born August 23, 1937 in Torrington, Wyoming the son of Walter and Zola (Finch) Mitchell. He attended grades on thru four in Yoder, Wyoming until and then the family moved to Torrington. He graduated Torrington School in 1955 and joined the Air Force. He was discharged in 1962 and returned to Torrington. He married Donna Shoemaker on September19, 1959 in Lingle, Wyoming. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1964 where he drove and armored truck for Brinks Security, worked at a funeral home and drove an ambulance. In 1974 they moved to a farm in the Veteran, Wyoming area. He resided in Veteran until 2014 when he moved to Torrington. Don liked raising donkeys and dogs and caring for any animal. He collected antiques and loved attending auctions. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies in the Veteran Post Office Coffee Club. Don is survived by his sister Naomi Carpenter of Golden, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Bob Carpenter, Bruce Carpenter, Rick Grasmick, Rod Grasmick, Robin Ysac, Ken Shoemaker, and Kay Dooley; and his canine companions Gizzy and Beau. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Donna; and a sister Janet Elaine Crowley.
