May 14, 1938 - July 23, 2014

Funeral services for DONALD E. PACK, 76, will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Doolin officiating. The casket will be open briefly prior to the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Don died on July 23, 2014 at Torrington Community Hospital. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to either the Torrington Valley Christian School or to the Bethel Baptist Church. Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and friends and family are invited to submit condolences on-line at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Don was born on May 14, 1938 in Roswell, New Mexico the son of Sherman “Putts” and Lona (Woolf) Pack. His family moved back and forth from New Mexico to California and Don attended school at both places. He graduated from Desert High School at Edwards Air Force Base in California in 1956. In 1963 Don married Barbara Haley Boshell and became stepfather to her daughter Allyson. To this union were born Michelle and Eugenia. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas , several years in Alabama, and later divorced. Don moved back to California and in 1976 he married Mary Jacobson Boyd. With Mary and her two young sons, Darren and Matt, the family moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in 1977 and then Torrington, Wyoming became their new home in 1988. Don's primary occupation was as an electrician, a field in which he worked in various capacities for over 45 years. Because of his work ethic, his commitment as a faithful provider, and his multiple talents, his various occupations included: work as a chemical research technician trainee for NASA, wiring newly constructed mobile homes, owned and operated a Montgomery Ward catalog store and an auto repair shop, as well as an appliance repair business. He worked as a high voltage maintenance electrician for The Bureau of Reclamation for 20 years, retiring in 2005. After a short period of retirement he went back to work as a railroad transport driver, for 7 years until the spring of 2014. Don was an avid auto mechanic. This passion began in childhood with his dad in his backyard. Don rebuilt engines throughout his life for many friends and family members. He also enjoyed ball games, camping, travel, golf, drag racing, and reading. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington. Don was a strong Christian and gave himself to his church in youth work and other various roles. He was a man of honorable character, had a great sense of humor, and was known for his cheerful whistle. He was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed. Don is survived by wife, Mary of Torrington; daughters, Michelle (Chuck) Wright and Gena (Wayne) Wilkes all of Jasper, Alabama; two sons, Darren Boyd of Grass Valley, California and Matthew (Robin) Boyd of LaGrange, Wyoming; a step-daughter, Allyson Folmar of Carbon Hill, Alabama; a sister Dolores(Larry) Willardson of Pomona, Missouri; brothers Ralph Pack and Phillip Pack both of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
