TORRINGTON, WY..... On October 14, 1947 a would-be lifetime Husker fan, Doug Armstrong, came into this world, welcomed by his parents Max and Donna Armstrong. He left this world on Tuesday May 10, 2022 in Tampa, Florida; called to heaven, which I hope includes Husker football games. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 20th at 1pm at the United Methodist Church in Torrington with Reverend Jeff Wayland officiating. Doug was born in St. Paul, Nebraska. He grew up in Farwell, Nebraska, and graduated from St Paul High School in 1965. This was only the beginning of his education. Doug went on to obtain a Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa. He then received his Master's degree from Wester Illinois University located in Macomb Illinois. Doug enlisted into the Army in 1969, and then served honorably for 4 years as a physical therapist aide. He was first stationed in San Antonio Texas, and then in Fort Monmouth New Jersey. Doug took great pride and often fondly reminisced of his service to this country. Doug worked for Saint Francis Hospital located in Grand Island Nebraska, and also at the Iowa Lutheran hospital located in Des Moines Iowa. He then transferred to the Scottsbluff Regional Hospital located in Scottsbluff Nebraska, and then to the Torrington Community Hospital in Torrington Wyoming. Doug finished his career as a physical therapist by retiring with the Goshen County School District. There he serviced all of the regional districts schools physical therapy needs. As Doug worked for the Goshen County School district, he also worked part time at Cheyenne Regional Hospital where he could help those in need. He also freely donated his spare time by performing the duties as the Sports Trainer for Grand Island Northwest High School, Central Catholic High School, Scottsbluff High School, and Goshen County High School. He never viewed his career as work. Giving his free time to assist the youth through some form of physical therapy, while simultaneously being able to enjoy watching all of the various sporting events. He often said he had the only job where you could go play with kids everyday. Doug Armstrong is survived by his wife Teri Armstrong and 6 children. Doug's first four children came from a previous marriage, his daughter Kelly, son Steve (Margaret)of Las Vegas Nevada, Lori Browning (Micha) of Scottsbluff Nebraska, and Brian (Anna )of Laramie Wyoming. Doug has two surviving step children, Dean Brown located in Tampa Florida, and Allen Brown located in Ogden Utah. Doug is also survived by 5 grandchildren. Ben Browning, Parker Browning, Erin Armstrong, Morgan Armstrong, and Logan Brown. Other survivors are his beloved sister Kaye Wells (Garry) of Cotesfield Nebraska, favorite brother Jack Armstrong of St. Paul Nebraska, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Max and Donna (Ward) Armstrong, and two infant children. Doug will be remembered by many, he was always ready to lend a hand or listen, to help in any way he could.
