Douglas Fullmer

August 23, 1922 - December 29, 2008

TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........Memorial services for DOUGLAS E. FULLMER 86, will be held at 10am Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Lingle Presbyterian Church in Lingle, Wyoming with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial with military honors with be in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington following. Doug died at his home in Torrington on December 29, 2008. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Goshen County 4-H Council. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Doug was born August 23, 1922 in Kearney, Nebraska the son of Coy and Leona (Cloud) Fullmer. At an early his family moved to the Chestnut Valley area north of Torrington, Wyoming and he attended school in Torrington. After school he worked on farms in the area for awhile. He married LuThera Titchner on September 13, 1941 in Gering, Nebraska. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after his discharge in 1946 came back to this area and worked for Art Damrow in his dairy. They moved to Douglas, Wyoming for a short time then back to the dairy before moving to a farm south of Lingle, Wyoming in 1958. He ran a gas station in Lingle for a time before going to work for Brown Bean Co. for eighteen years. Later he drove school bus for the Lingle school district. After the death of his wife he moved to Torrington and later married Patricia Rust on December 15, 2007. Doug was a 4-H Leader for twenty-three years. He was a member of a Bridge Club, the American Legion #63 in Lingle where he served as District Commander for two years, and a member of the Lingle Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He held 4-H meetings in his front yard under a cottonwood tree that was there when he homesteaded. After retirement  he was active in AARP and the Retired Teacher’s Association where he served in many offices. He was also a past member of the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, hunting, and fishing. Doug is survived by his wife Patricia of Torrington, Wyoming; five sons, Richard and his wife Pat of Torrington, William and his wife Jeannie of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jerald and his wife Lynnea of Lusk, Wyoming, Craig and his wife Roberta of Yoder, Wyoming, and Douglas and his wife  Stacey of Gilbert, Arizona; a brother, Robert Fullmer of Torrington; a sister, Margaret Arland of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife LuThera; one brother, C. Leland Fullmer; and two infant sisters Mary Ann and Patty Jean.
