EMMA MARGARET OBERST LINGLE, Wyoming – Emma Margaret (Nelsen) Oberst, 100, died Friday April 1, 2016 at the Goshen County Care Center in Torrington, Wyoming. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 11, at North Hills Baptist Church with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lingle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Hills Baptist Church or Lingle Rescue Unit. Visitation will be before services, at the church, starting at noon. Emma was born January 18, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of John and Louise Marie (Andersen) Nelsen. She had three sisters and one brother. Margaret attended Vinton grade school in Omaha and graduated from Craig High School in Craig, Nebraska in 1935. On September 8, 1935 she was united in marriage to Delmar B. Oberst in Tekamah, Nebraska and to this union they were blessed with four sons, Robert, Ron, and twins Bill and Richard. In 1953 they moved to Torrington and then to Lingle in 1960. Margaret was employed by the Town of Lingle until 1967 and later worked at the Lingle Guide Newspaper until 1975. She then helped with the family business until the passing of her husband, Delmar, in 1981. Margaret was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 84 years. She was initiated on June 1, 1934 in Craig, Nebraska. As a member of the Lingle Chapter #40 she served as worthy Matron 1970-1971. Survivors include her sons, Bill of Lingle, WY, Richard (Jan) of Tilghman, MD, Ronald (Sherry) of Anacortes, WA, Robert of Beaverton, WA; grandsons Michael (Jacqueline)Oberst of Potomac, MD and Christopher (Amy) Oberst of Herndon, VA; great grandsons Ian and Cameron Oberst of Herndon, VA and David and Andrew Oberst of Potomac, MD. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother Edward Nelsen; sisters Mable Helen Mayer, Dorothy Moats, and Virginia Knebel; grandson John Barton Oberst and daughter in law Mary Ann Oberst.
