A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for GILBERT T. PRADO, 49, at 2pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Gilbert departed this world on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. A Rosary/Wake service will be recited on Wednesday at 6pm at the church. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm and the casket will be open at the rosary. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Gilbert was born June 15, 1964 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He lived a fun and carefree life, enjoying baseball, basketball, track, choir, swing choir, band, drumming and of course Dancing. After graduating from Torrington High School in 1982 he attended Eastern Wyoming College, and then joined the Army, a career that he was immensely proud of for twenty years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Anyone fortunate to cross paths with Gil got to experience his gift of encouragement and support, and making them feel they were his only priority, no matter what was happening in his own life. He encouraged laughter, caring, giving, respect, pride and Always left one with a feeling of happiness. Survivors include daughters Simona of Springdale, Arkansas, and Esperanza of West Valley City, Utah; spouse Yvette and stepson Dan; parents Henry and Simona; brother Tim Prado (Destiny, Isabel); sisters Tamie Barajas (Dave-Joe, Russ, Roxanne, Thomas, Tiffany), Jacque Johannsen (Matt-Kelsey, Madeline, Anthony) and TonyaWilladson (Steve-Conor, Calen); great nieces and great nephews; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
