JAMES ROGERS LINGLE, Wyoming – Jim Rogers, 60, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyoming. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Rendevous Center at the Goshen County Fair Grounds in Torrington with Resse Wilkins officiating. Burial will be at a later date and cremation has taken place. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the EWC Rodeo Team. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send their condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com . Jim was born April 4, 1955 in Walsenburg, CO the son of Will and Charlotte (Wolf) Rogers. His family lived in various places in Southern Colorado while he was growing up. Jim graduated high school from Rye High School in Rye, CO. After graduation he moved to Seligman, AZ to work for his uncle on a ranch. He was also a saddle bronc rider in the PRCA. In 1976, Jim met Sandra Clarke at the Yuma Rodeo. On May 28, 1977 the couple was married. They then moved to Rocky Ford, CO where they ranched and Sandy taught school. In 1994, they moved to Torrington and in 1998 moved to Lingle. Jim shoed horses until he unexpectedly passed. Jim was a past PRCA and college rodeo judge. His biggest enjoyment was watching rodeo…especially watching his son, JD, compete. Spending time with family was very important to Jim. Family came first. He loved learning history, especially about the old west. Jim really like visiting with people; he didn’t know a stranger. He loved people and they loved him…especially kids. Jim was always partial to Sandy’s students. Survivors include his wife Sandy of Lingle; son JD of Lingle; father Will of La Junta, CO; sister Sandy Leonard of La Junta, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his mother.
