Funeral services for WILLA MAE BARTHEL, 86, will be held at 2pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Reverend Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Willa died January 5, 2016 in the Goshen Community Care Center. A memorial has been established to Our Savior Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 5pm at the funeral home and prior to the service at the church. Willa Mae was born July 19, 1929 in Torrington, Wyoming the daughter of Gottlieb and Elizabeth (Seraifin) Beierle. She grew up and received most of her education in Torrington. She attended and graduated nursing school in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She married Charles John Barthel on July 19, 1951 in Torrington and they resided there. She worked as an LPN at the Goshen Care Center until she retired in 1993. Charles died in 2001. Willa Mae was a member of Our Savior Lutheran and LWML at the church. She was truly passionate about caring for her family. Willa Mae is survived by three sons Charles (Jane) Barthel Jr of Golden, Colorado, Michael Barthel of Mesa, Arizona, and Ronald (Amanda) Barthel of Hartville, Wyoming; three sisters Marjorie Dermer of Torrington, Wyoming, Sally Grassmick of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Julie Stevenson of Boise, Idaho; a brother Dick Schnell of Washington state; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; two brothers Jim and Jack Beierle; and a sister Patty Beierle.
