Memorial services will be held for WILLIAM C. ‘CHUCK’ WILKINSON, 82, on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1101 East 22nd Avenue with Bishop Richard Nelson officiating. Chuck died on April 30, 2011 at the Goshen Care Center. Cremation has taken place and a private family scattering of his ashes will take place at another time. The family would request that memorial donations in Chuck’s memory be directed to "The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, One Intrepid Square, West 46th St & 12th Ave, New York, NY 10036. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Chuck was born on December 31, 1928 in Cheyenne, Wyoming the son of William and Ila (McNeely) Wilkinson. He grew up, attending schools at Horse Creek Elementary School near Cheyenne; a country school near Lusk, Wyoming to the 8th grade; and then graduated Torrington High School in 1946. Chuck went on to attend Eastern Wyoming College at Torrington, followed by the University of Wyoming at Laramie, and Colorado State University at Ft. Collins. He then entered the US Army in 1951 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He was discharged in 1953 and he returned to Wyoming to ranch with his parents and brother near Lander. He married Laura Lee Bell at Laramie, Wyoming on January 9, 1957 and the couple ranched for a short time at Lander before moving to Laura Lee’s parents ranch at Garrett, Wyoming. The family then moved to a ranch north of Rozet, Wyoming and then to Worland, Wyoming where Chuck managed Stockers Feed Lot. In 1972 Chuck moved his family to Torrington and ranched north of Henry, Nebraska. In 1976 Chuck and his wife started their own business, "Wilkinson Custom Haying & Hauling, Inc." Chuck retired in 2006. Chuck enjoyed roping and bulldogging, golf and archery. He liked to hunt and his life was dedicated to ranching. He was a member of the LDS church and the PRCA. He is survived by his wife, Laura Lee of Torrington; his son, Todd Wilkinson; two daughters, Jamie Wilkinson, and Torry (Brad) Wilson all of Torrington; two granddaughters, Keely Wilson and Taylor Wilson both of Torrington; one brother, J.T. (Jan) Wilkinson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, a niece Julie Wilkinson of Lander, Wyoming, and a nephew Brad Wilkinson of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Bart Wilkinson and a niece, Beth Thompson (Wilkinson).
