Bertha Nellie Babbitt

Memorial services for BERTHA NELLIE BABBITT, 79, will be held at 10am Friday, April 14, 2023 at the South Goshen Community Church in Yoder, Wyoming with Reverend Bill Eaton officiating. Bertha died April 3, 2023 at Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyoming and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the South Goshen Community Church. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Bertha was born November 8, 1943 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Schindledecker) Liske. She grew up and received her education in Yoder, Wyoming. On August 26, 1960 she married the love of her life Raymond Babbitt and while he was in the military she followed him to wherever he was stationed, mostly California. After Ray was discharged, they moved back to the family homestead in Yoder where they farmed and ranched. Bertha went to work for Sawyer and Warren Law Office and then to Gerald Connolly’s Law Office. She later created her own business of Gifts and Such on Main Street in Torrington. After she retired, her and Ray started a concessions business. Bertha loved to dance and she enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of the Yoder Coffee Club, and the South Goshen Community Church and served as an on- call person for Southeast Mental Health. Bertha is survived by her husband Ray of Torrington, Wyoming; son Casey (Gail) Babbitt of Yoder, Wyoming; daughters Carmen (Jason) Haynes of Mesa, Arizona and Kendal (Russ) Richards of Torrington; a sister Thelma Wood of Mountain Home, Arkansas; sister-in-law Betty Liske; brothers-in-law Murray Brown and Hank Sturgeon; grandchildren Getty (Julie) Babbitt of Sheridan, Wyoming, Shaylee (Rob) Mortimore of Torrington, Dillon Haynes of Mesa, Meritt Haynes of Gillette, Wyoming, Merissa (Fletcher) Stromberg of Torringon, Meranda Richards of Torrington, Macullie (Tony) Elwood of Black Hawk, South Dakota, Presley (Derek) Lowe of Yoder and Maria Spiering of Cody, Wyoming; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bill Liske; sisters Lois Brown and Shirley Sturgeon; and brother-in-law Art Wood.
