Funeral services for BETTY LUCILE GARVER HOLT, 83, will be held at 10:30am Friday, January 14, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jurdan Countsofficiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Betty a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt died at Heritage of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Nebraska January 9, 2011. Memorials may be made toeither a park bench at Heritage of Bridgeport or Prairie Haven Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 7pm and the casket will be open briefly prior to the service at the church. Betty was born December 28, 1927 in Baldwin Park, California the daughter of Perry and Eve “Blanch” (Teachout) Garver. She treasured fond childhood memories of growing up in her father’s orange groves in California. After marrying Warren M. Holt (of Kearney, Nebraska) on August 5, 1946 they lived in Covina, California. As a maintenance supervisor for Service Pipeline (Amoco), the family moved to Rawlins, Wyoming; Medicine Bow, Wyoming; Danville, Virginia; Hayes, Kansas; and Sterling, Colorado before retiring in Torrington, Wyoming. Being an active Christian was extremely important to Betty wherever she lived. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Torrington for nearly forty years. She was an active member and served many roles within the church including deacon, church volunteer, choir member, Sunday School leader, and Vacation Bible School volunteer. She also enjoyed being a member of the Gideon ministry for many years. Betty focused on making a lovely home for her family. She was an avid gardener, and loved baking pies and cookies, oil painting, and playing music. She shared her strong faith with her family, always encouraging them to put God first. She leaves behind many wonderful memories that will be treasured by her family and friends. Betty is survived by two children, son, Steve and wife Cyndi Holt of Bridgeport, Nebraska; and daughter, Karen and husband Tom Tveten of Naperville, Illinois; one brother Kenneth and his wife Kathy Garver of Green Valley, Arizona; three grandchildren, Michelle and husband Jason Rollyson of Huntington, West Virginia, Chris and wife Melissa Tveten of Florence, Kentucky, and David L. Holt of Loveland, Colorado; four great grandchildren, Caroline and Amelia Rollyson, and Ella Claire and Parker Tveten; and several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Warren M. Holt; and three brothers Albert “Dale”, Glenn, and Richard “Keith” Garver.
