TORRINGTON, WYOMING............Funeral services for BETTY MAE O'BRIEN, 78, will be held at 2:00p.m. on Friday September 22, 2006 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Laramie Cemetery. Betty died at Community Hospital on Monday, September 11, 2006. A memorial has been established to the Ft. Laramie Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until 7:00p.m. and on Friday from 9:00a.m. till noon. The casket will be closed at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Betty was born August 26, 1928 west of Henry, Nebraska the daughter of John and Florence (McKee) Jepson. She grew up and received her education in Huntley, Wyoming graduating from Huntley High School. She married James O'Brien on February 27, 1946 in Henry, Nebraska and they moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1947. In 1948 they moved to a ranch north of Ft. Laramie, Wyoming where they farmed and ranched for many years. She worked for the Wyoming Census Bureau. She welcomed everyone into her home with a smile and love. She was like a mother , grandmother and friend to the many people who came into her life. She loved people and loved to read and tell a bit of history to them. She and her husband celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2006. Betty loved to travel, do crossword puzzles, needlework, and play cribbage. She was a member of the Kaspiere Extension Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Community Supper Club and the Ft. Laramie Presbyterian where she served as treasurer for several years. Betty is survived by her husband James of Ft. Laramie; a daughter, Margie Small and her husband Curtis of Decatur, Texas; two sons, Irvin O'Brien and his wife Marlene of Enid, Oklahoma, and Harold O'Brien and his wife Becky of Riverton, Wyoming; two grandsons Shawn McCoy of Ft. Laramie and Cody Jones of Weatherford, Texas; two granddaughters, Tanya Jones of Weatherford and Emma O'Brien of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and one brother Donald Jepson and his wife Evelyn Mae of Douglas, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gene; and two sons, Michael and Sandy
