Betty Woodward

TORRINGTON, WY.....Funeral services for BETTY LOU (OBERG) WOODWARD, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church in Torrington, WY with Reverend Steve Seng officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Senior Citizen Center, 757 Great Western Avenue, Lovell, WY 82431. Betty passed away on Saturday, October 24 at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Cremation has taken place. Burial for Betty and Roy will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington, Wyoming. It is at this time a remembrance of her husband, Roy Woodward will also take place. Betty was born April 20, 1927 in Taylor, NE the daughter of Charles J. Oberg and Edna L.(Norris) Oberg. She was raised in the Torrington area and graduated from Torrington High School in 1944. She married Roy Harold Woodward in Torrington on May 25, 1946. She worked at various bookkeeping jobs throughout her life. The family moved from Torrington in 1959 and relocated through various towns including Rock Springs, Laramie, Lovell, Casper and finally back to Torrington where she worked for the Valley Mercantile. In 1999 she and Roy decided to move to Lovell to be closer to family. She lived there until her death. She was an active member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Emma Sturgeon Rebekah Lodge No. O. Betty enjoyed her daily journal, bowling leagues, playing pinochle and fishing with Roy and her family. She spearheaded many camping family reunions in the Pinedale area. She is survived by her four sons, Dennis C. Woodward (Joyce) of Cowley, Randy J. Woodward (Renee) of Casper, Patrick L. Woodward (Terry) of Kandern, Germany, and Jeffrey L. Woodward (Sheri) of Cameron Park, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents, Charles and Edna Oberg; and her brothers, Carl and George.
