Blanche Evelyn Gunderson

BLANCHE EVELYN GUNDERSON, 89, passed away peacefully April 22, 2026, at Torrington Community Hospital surrounded by loving family. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Waggin' Tails Animal Shelter in Blanche's name. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com Blanche was born October 27, 1936, Briggsdale, Colorado to Clyde and Lottie (Miller) McKee. She grew up in Elk Mountain, Wyoming where she received her education. She was one of three in the graduating class in 1954. After graduating she attended the University of Wyoming for one year. While sending a telegraph she met the man who would become her future husband, Richard F. Gunderson. Blanche and Richard were married November 5, 1955, in Rawlins, Wyoming. To this union four children were born: Gary, Sharon, Dick and Kyle. The family moved to Yoder, Wyoming in 1959, where they made their home. Blanche was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she always made sure that the needs of her family were met before her own. Very active in her children’s lives she always attended their school and sporting events. In her free time, she loved gardening, reading and being a very avid Colorado Rockies fan, you could almost bet that Blanche had the game on cheering for her favorite team! Blanche was a wonderful person who was loved by many and loved many along the way. It has been said that she “never knew a stranger, and if she met someone new, they wouldn’t be strangers for long”. The love that Blanche shared for everyone will live on forever and she will be missed by all those that knew her. Blanche is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Richard F. Gunderson of Torrington, children; Sharon (Mark) Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas, Dick Gunderson of Torrington, Kyle (Amy) Gunderson of Torrington, as well as Deb (Brad) Prickett of Torrington whom she considered a daughter; grandchildren, Dakota Stevens, Ciara (Shane) Ulfig, Alyssa (Loran) Morrison, Jenny Gunderson, Kylee (Noah) Haggerty, Keeli (Chase) Rasmussen and Kaeli Gunderson; great-grandchildren, Willa Ulfig, Alieyah and Asher Morrison, Kizzy and Sawyer Haggerty, DJ and Cy Rasmussen. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Lottie McKee, son Gary Gunderson, four brothers and four sisters.
