TORRINGTON, WYOMING....A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for CARMEN RAMIREZ, 95, at 10:00a.m. Monday, August 20, 2007 at Saint Rose Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Carmen died August 14, 2007 at Community Hospital in Torrington. A Rosary/Wake service will be on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m., and the casket will be open at the Rosary/Wake. Memorials can be made to Special Touch or the Carmen Ramirez Fund. She was born Jan 29, 1912, the daughter of Silbano and Anastasia (Solis) Rodriguez in La Villa, Michcacan, Mexico. When Carmen was eight her family moved to the United States in 1920, where they started farm and field work. Carmen met her future husband when he was driving by and asked her father for work. Dionicio worked for the Rodriguez farm and in 1936 he and Carmen were married in Mitchell, Nebraska. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting embroidery, listening to Spanish music, bingo, 'canicas' or aggravation, and watching As the World Turns. But her most favorite love above all else was her children and her family. No one recalled a harsh word spoken by her, just all the love she could give, which her family said, was always evident. She was a volunteer for the Spanish Women's Club and was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughters Veronica and Gabriel Contreras of Torrington, WY., Jenny Bravo of Scottsbluff , Lucy and Dave Flores of Lincoln, NE., sons Manuel Ramirez of Cozad, NE., Albert Ramirez and Julien and Martha Ramirez of Casper, WY.; step children Carmen and Alicia Ramirez and Delores and Dave Martinez of KS, Martha Zuniga of Scottsbluff, NE., Pete and Anne Ramirez of AZ., and a step daughter in law Lisa Clay from Scottsbluff NE., twenty-three grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four children, one brother, and three grandchildren.
