TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........Funeral services for DAVID L. SCHILREFF, 63, will be held at 10:30am Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lifeway Church with Pastor Cody Dyer officiating. Cremation will take place after the service. David died Monday, March 11, 2019 at 6:38 am, with his three children and a granddaughter at his side, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska from complications related to Alzheimer Disease. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Unit at the Goshen Healthcare Community. David was born August 14, 1955 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska the son of George and Leona (Sterkel) Schilreff. He grew up in Commerce City, Colorado until the age of fourteen and moved to Torrington, Wyoming. At the age of fifteen he moved in with Bill and Helen Stoeger, the parents of his high school sweetheart, whom he married, Diana L. Stoeger, and had three children, Jeanette, Chris and Blain. They remained best friends after their divorce, honoring their family and children. On June 18, 1997 David married Cynthia L. von-Forell. David obtained his GED from Torrington and began working at the age of fifteen. His first job was a Scotty’s Bi-products, as a butcher in Torrington. Then at the age of seventeen he began his forty year career as a welder, mechanic, and electrician at Holly Sugar Corporation, retiring as a supervisor. David had a passion and amazing skills as a carpenter and built several homes, among many other projects. He was a family man who adored holidays with his three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and water skiing at all Wyoming lakes. He had a passion for restoring his classic cars and took pride in his delicate work. Since childhood he loved all his cats, dogs, horses and even a pet sheep that he had when he was a boy, which lived in the house like another dog. David is survived by his wife Cynthia von-Forell Schilreff; daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Shawn Clarke of Torrington; sons Chris Schilreff and daughter-in-law April of Torrington and George (Blain) Schilreff and partner Jason Lockwood of Kimball, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother Sonny (George) Schilreff and sister-in-law Patty and sister Shirley Oliver all of Torrington; and half-sister Patty Schilreff of Casper, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Michael Schilreff, grandson Brandon Schilreff; half-brothers Donnie and George Schilreff; and his grandparents.
