Ida Lou Kerns

Funeral services for IDA LOU KERNS, , will be held at 2pm Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Giles Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Ida Lou went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 8, 2014 at the Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to the family. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9am till noon and the casket will be open briefly following the service. Ida Lou (Hestead) was born September 2, 1930 in Sante Fe, New Mexico to K.L. and Ellen Hestead. Ida Lou Hestead married her husband Jake G. Kerns on January 5, 1952 in Torrington, Wyoming. The couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012. Jake and Ida Lou farmed for over sixty years near Henry, Nebraska in Goshen County, Wyoming. She graduated from Torrington High School with the class of 1948. She attended Bible College in Minnesota. After college she worked at the Torrington Hospital as a bookkeeper and receptionist. She was an active member of the Henry Methodist Church, where she was the president of the Women’s Group for eighteen years. Ida Lou is survived by her daughter Patricia McCabe and son-in-law Michael of Torrington, Wyoming; son Dale Kerns and daughter-in-law Jaci of Lingle, Wyoming; son-in-law Clinton Weinkauf of Guernsey, Wyoming; daughter-in-law Vaneta Kerns of Torrington; brother Kenneth Hestead of Caldwell, Idaho; thirteen grandchildren Randy, Eddy, Christine, Kim, Michael, Cheryl, James, C.J., Justin, J.D., Kodi, Josh, and Joel; nineteen great grandchildren Randi, Robert, Cody, Demie, Michael, Samuel, Wyatt, Corbin, Katelynn, Landon, Liz, Ashly, Cindy, Kolton, Karlie, Korbin, Austin, Cooper, and Jannelle; four great-great-grandchildren Samantha, Sarah, Antony, and Elivi; and many nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents K.L. and Ellen Hestead; one brother Wendell Hestead; step-sons Fred and Roy Kerns; and a daughter Kathy Weinkauf.
