TORRINGTON, WY.... Funeral services for JOHN O. JENKINS, 67, will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Baker officiating. Cremation will take place following the services and private family burial will be at a later date. John died on December 17, 2006 at the Torrington Community Hospital. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Thursday, from 10am to 5pm; on Friday from noon to 3pm; and the casket will be open at the service. A memorial has been established to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com John was born on May 5, 1939 in Alliance, Nebraska. The family moved to Gering where John received his education; graduating from Gering High School in 1937. He then joined the National Guard at Scottsbluff. John worked at B & C Steel and also the Overhead Door Company while at Scottsbluff before moving to Torrington, Wyoming in 1969. On September 21, 1971 he married Mary 'Lynne' Matlock at Torrington. John was self-employed as a building contractor in Torrington until May of 2005 when he retired due to ill health. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington. John was an avid Denver Bronco fan and he enjoyed crossword puzzles and rock hunting. He loved the outdoors and taking rides in the country. John was a handyman for all who needed him and he will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by is wife Mary 'Lynne' of Torrington; three sons and their wives, Eric (Lolita) Ferguson of Shrewsbury, PA.; Doug (Joni) Matlock of AZ.; and Greg (Kelly) Matlock of Torrington, WY.; five daughters and their husbands, Crystal (Russ) Saunders of Veteran, Alberta, Canada; Jodi (Rich) Heil of Scottsbluff, NE.; Laura (Joe) Fleming of Yoder, WY.; Kristi (Stan) Struble of Torrington, WY.; and Laura Jenkins; a sister Betty (Glenn) Kelly of Morrill, NE.; and a brother Jim (Nadine) Ferguson of Gering, NE.; grandchildren, Nathan Ferguson, Kelsey and Wesley Saunders, Michael and Jonathon Jenkins, John Heil, Jason and Jennifer Heil, Jerrod and Sarah Heil, Julie Heil, Matthew and Kayla Matlock, DesiRae (Robert) Ramirez, Rodney and John Fleming, Scott and Brandon Struble, Nathan, Thomas, Bonnie, and Heather; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Breyden, and Jordan Heil; Joey, Isreall, Alexis Lynn, and Destiny Machelle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Helen Ferguson, one infant daughter, Jennifer Ferguson, and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gary Kaufman.
