TORRINGTON, WYOMING...........A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for MARLENE M. SCHLAGER, 76, at 10am Friday, October 8, 2010 at St. Rose Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Michael Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Marlene died at Community Hospital on October 5, 2010 and cremation has taken place. A Rosary/Wake service will be recited on Thursday at 7pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Goshen County 4-H. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Marlene was born December 5, 1933 in Devils Lake, North Dakota the daughter of George and Margaret (Houchins) Amberg. She moved with her family to Scottsbluff, Nebraska for a short time. He father ran a Montgomery Wards store and was transferred a lot. They then moved to Torrington, Wyoming where she graduated high school in 1951. She attended nursing school for two years. She married William Schlager on November 11, 1953 in Elko, Nevada. She worked at the Torrington hospital in the emergency room as an EMT. She later became employed with the Goshen County Schools as a paraprofessional for kindergarten to second grade. Marlene retired from there in 2004. Marlene enjoyed camping, hiking, and four-wheeling on Laramie Peak, also traveling, doing wood crafts, and especially spending time with grandchildren. Her and her husband were 4-H leaders for nine years. Marlene is survived by her husband Bill of Torrington; four daughters Lynda (Ken) Ferrari of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Elizabeth (Jim) DeMott of Torrington, Cherie (Bart) Trautwein of Lingle, Wyoming, and Joanna (Tom) Daiss of Lingle; three sons Jeff (Sandy) Schlager of Eaton, Colorado, William (Sherry) Schlager Jr. of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Lonny Schlager and his fiancee of Torrington, four sisters, Pat Amberg, Frances Glass, Margaret Clarke, and Rosemary Kilgore all of Torrington; a brother Thomas Amberg of Arvada, Colorado; twenty-three grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and her poodle Holly. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Nanette Rhynsburger; and a granddaughter Marissah Knowles.
