Phyllis Arlene Blue

Phyllis Arlene Blue, 89, died Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 at Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Phyllis was born on August 3rd, 1932 to Jacob and Oleta Keim in Lincoln, NE. She graduated high school at Lincoln High School in 1950 and got her degree in Business Administration at the University of Nebraska. She gained the love interest of Lyle Blue in 1954 while he was on leave from the U.S. Army and he proposed to her before he was sent overseas. Lyle returned one year later in the beginning of September, 1955 and they were married shortly after on September 10th, 1955. After they were married, they moved to Denver, Colorado so Lyle could go to school. Phyllis worked at Prudential Insurance to support their family while he was in school. While in Denver, they had three children, two daughters and one son. In 1972 they moved to Torrington, Wyoming for Lyle’s job. This is where they stayed. Phyllis worked for the sugar factory in Torrington, Wyoming at the beet dump where she weighed sugar beets for harvest for twenty years. She was a member of the Methodist church and loved to travel with her husband, especially to Europe. They visited Europe eleven times. She would collect Christmas ornaments from all of their travels. They, also, did many family vacations with their children and grandchildren that were memorable to all. She loved to play cards and played in many bridge clubs. She taught her grandchildren how to play several card games and how to shuffle cards. Phyllis was an extremely intelligent woman who loved to lend a helping hand. She was known for helping with homework to hemming the bottoms of her family’s jeans. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Lyle Blue of Torrington, Wyoming; daughters, Kimberly Holthus and Kathy (Steve) Childs of Torrington, Wyoming; a sister, Barb Stewart of Grand Island, Nebraska, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by both of her parents; her brother, Jacob Keim; son, Paul Blue and grandson, Zach Childs.
