Robert 'Bob' Ward

Robert H. “Bob” Ward, 75, passed away peacefully, in his sleep, to be with his Lord on December 24, 2010 at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at The Frontier School of the Bible Chapel in LaGrange, Wyoming with Bill Marietta officiating. Burial will follow at the LaGrange Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the LaGrange Rescue Unit and Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send their condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Bob was born April 15, 1935 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the son of James “Buster” and Nellie (Hodges) Ward. Bob found the love of his life and married Lavonne Nighswonger on September 27, 1953. The couple had five loving children. Bob worked for Holly Sugar and Lamb Construction, as well as, Morrison-Knudson Construction as a Superintendent for missile silo construction. In 1959, the family moved to their present home and started Meriden Body Shop and Meriden Store. In 1968, Bob started Ward Trenching and Backhoe where he continued to work until 1996. Bob was active in the Torrington and Cheyenne Shrine Club. He was a volunteer with the Grounds Committee at Cheyenne Frontier Days for 28 years. He was also a member of Heels. One of his favorite things was having his family around. Bob loved his grandchildren very much. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wonderful friends and telling stories. Bob is survived by his wife, Lavonne; his children, Robert and his wife Nina Ward of LaGrange, Wyoming, Jody and her husband Cody Edwards of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Judy and her husband Frank Taylor of Melbourne, Florida, Thom Ward of Meriden, Wyoming, and Glenda and her husband Tom Edmunds of Meriden Wyoming; two brothers, Jim “JD” and his wife Eileen Ward and Dale “Butch” and his wife Linda Ward of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters, Bonnie Patterson, Mable and her husband Ken Smith of LaGrange, Wyoming, Mary Jane and her husband Ralph Prahl of Cheyenne, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Ward; and a great grand daughter, Delaney Ward Coleman.
