WILLIAM R. ‘BILL’ QUICK FT. LARAMIE, WY . . . . Memorial services for WILLIAM R. ‘BILL’ QUICK, 63, will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Ft. Laramie Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jane Busey officiating. Bill died on October 5, 2009 at his residence in Ft. Laramie. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Ft. Laramie Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com Bill was born on August 4, 1946 in Sacramento, California. He moved with his family to Payson, Arizona where he grew up and attended school; graduating Payson High School in 1965. He went on to attend Arizona State University at Tempe for a year and then joined the US Navy where he served until 1971. Following his discharge, Bill returned to California briefly before moving to Denver, Colorado where he worked for BNSF Railroad for 30 years. He retired in December of 2008. Bill and Nancy O’Connor had been together since 1991 and married on July 30, 2003 at Ft. Laramie, Wyoming. Bill enjoyed black powder rifle shoots; trap shoots; hunting and fishing; and he loved to golf. He was also a breeder of German Short Hair Pointers. Bill was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; a life time member of the National Rifle Association; and he had retired from the Ft. Laramie Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Ft. Laramie; two sons, Brandon Quick and his wife Danielle of Denver, Colorado, and Sgt. Dustin Quick and his wife Keri of Murrieta, California; a daughter, Stephanie O’Connor of New York City, New York; his father, James York of Payson, Arizona; two brothers, Steve Quick and his wife Pam of Oak Harbor, Washington, and Brian York and his wife Nancy of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Barbara Smith of Esparto, California, and Karen Leeds and her husband Gary of Squetna, Alaska; one granddaughter, Brookelyn Quick; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois York.
